Perspectives Series2018-2023A series of works created at a rate of one piece per year.

In her series ‘Perspectives’ she continues to reflect on colonialism while at the same time insisting on her own perspective, her own grip on her life. Perspective 1 and 2, while exposing one of the curses of colonialism by painting anonymous cut hands, also show that the eyes - her eyes - are turned towards new perspectives and to her and her family’s life.

In Perspective 2, Roman numerals and the cross already hint at a turn towards broader historical contexts, After a visit to emperor’s church in Innsbruck in winter 2025, she started to be interested in Renaissance as theological and philosophical concept linking to the legacy of Antiquity. Perspective 4 (work in progress) is her first excursion in this new territory

In Perspective 2, she builds up a composition with rectangles, squares, and triangles. The whole becomes a collage of elements: abstract figures appear in a triangle, two eyes, hands (cut out from a piece of textile), Roman numerals, the shape of a cross, etc... In yet another canvas, she experiments with semi-transparent materials and textures, branching lines, and color surfaces. The dualism between matter and idea is always fascinating. Source of knowledge comes from all senses.

In Perspective 3, the encircled points evoke the cells composing the organic body; they also remind us of the many artisanal mines, clearly visible on satellite images, nibbling entire neighborhoods in Katangese cities.
